Insecurity has been a recurring theme particularly in the ASAL regions of the country. In spite of the several efforts made by relevant government ministries in collaboration with peace partners from non-governmental organizations, the problems seem to escalate. Therefore, this study examined the effect of national government administration on coordination of security function in Baringo County, Kenya. The study was guided by the following objectives, to: examine the effect of information gathering in regard to conflict drivers on security, analyze the effect of community leaders’ mobilization by National Government Administration on security, and to investigate the effect of coordination of security operations by National Government Officers on security in Baringo County. The study employed the New-Institutionalism Theory in order to examine how national government administration rules, norms and operating procedures impact on the society. The study employed a descriptive research design in order to probe for more details in response to the effect of NGA on insecurity in the study area. The study target population consisted East Pokot Sub-County Administration Officers (DCC, ACCs, Chiefs, and Assistant Chiefs), Faith Based Organizations, Senior Security Personnel, Sub-County Peace Committees, village elders and Nyumba Kumi drawn from the four wards in the Sub-County. The study employed purposive sampling technique in order to select knowledgeable respondents. Primary data was drawn from research questionnaire and interview schedule, while secondary data was gathered from journals, periodicals, and books. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics which included measures of central tendency (the mean, median and mode) and measures of dispersion (the variance, range) while qualitative data was analyzed thematically and presented using themes and narrative. The findings reveal that information gathering on conflict drivers by NGAOs has a significant effect on security improvement in Baringo County with a mean of 3.2. Similarly, the findings show that there is a significant effect of community leaders’ mobilization by NGAOs on security enhancement by a mean 3.4. Finally, the study findings indicate that coordination of security operations by National Government Officers have a significant effect on security in Baringo County by a mean of 3.5. The study concluded that use of gathering of information, community leaders’ mobilization and coordination of security operations affect the coordination of security function. The study recommends that Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government should allocate funds for the conduct of community surveys by security agencies.
