There are many funded projects in Kiambu County as highlighted by the government reports that range from; food security projects, Water projects, housing projects, health projects, projects and educational projects among others. Despite all the efforts from the various development partners, most of the projects experience major hurdles in their life cycle and barely overcome the implementation stage. This means that the most significant variable was stakeholder participation followed by project design; top management support and project management competency respectively. The study recommends that competent project leaders be given the responsibility to oversee the implementation of road projects in Kiambu County. The road project design should bear in mind the list of resources i.e. work force, materials, machines since they correspond to the project. The top management support must continue to communicate with all the stakeholders during implementation of the project. Further the study recommends that stakeholder’s participation should be improved in implementation of road projects.
